The National Bank of Georgia is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under this program, through June 30, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules. The definition of a noninterest-bearing transaction account under this program includes all NOW accounts that are paying an interest rate of no higher than 0.50%, and all Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA). This program does not apply to the bank's Investment Checking Account because the FDIC general deposit insurance rules fully guarantee any account balance at the tier paying a rate of interest not exceeding 0.50%.
In addition, The National Bank of Georgia issues official checks which are drawn against an account at The Huntington National Bank. The Huntington National Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. As such, all payees of official checks issued by The National Bank of Georgia are covered under this program for the full amount of the official check through June 30, 2010.
If you have noninterest-bearing transaction accounts with an automatic transfer arrangement in place to an interest-bearing transaction account or product, that transfer could decrease your FDIC insurance coverage.
